About Transitional Housing Programs
About STAR: In 1976, STAR House (St. Andrew’s Residence for Boys), a non-profit, was founded by the outreach group from St. Andrew’s Episcopal church in Saratoga. The STAR programs has grown to include three residential facilities that care for both girls and boys between 10 and 18 years old as well as a new program Transitional Placement Program that helps ease children out of the foster care by providing a semi-independent living environment for older children that are preparing for emancipation. All of our programs provide for the care and counseling of abuse and neglected youth in Santa Clara County. The primary goals of the programs have been to provide a loving and caring environment, along with friendship, positive direction and family unification services.
In 1993, STAR programs expanded to providing foster homes to similar youth in Star Foster Family Agency. The foster family agency expanded our services to care for children from infancy to 18 years old.
