STAR Foster Family would first like to welcome you to our family-focused agency, which is helping to make a difference in the lives of children in need.
| STAR FFA strives to be a high quality, family and community oriented agency committed to providing the best services possible to our foster families and youth. |
We are accredited by the California Alliance of Children and Family Services. Under the authority of Community Care Licensing, we work hard to ensure our foster families are trained in the foster parent regulations put forth by the State of California as well as trained on our own agency policies. These regulations and polices are specifically designed to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the children placed in our foster homes on an ongoing basis.
This information packet is designed to help prospective foster parents become familiarized with our agency philosophies and vision for addressing the needs of the children we serve.
Foster parenting opens many positive doors for you, your family, and these children. It is a time of excitement, wonder, and possibility. However, it is not uncommon to feel nervous when faced with the real possibility of a new child entering your life. Please remember that this nervousness is likely also shared by that child. Imagine how this child must feel as he or she first steps into your home, learns about you and your family, and turns off the light that very first night. The questions, confusion, and fear they may carry, makes sensitivity and understanding a necessity.
This is a big adjustment, and STAR FFA staff is available 24-hours a day to help you understand, grow, and adapt to the tasks of foster parenting. In return, we ask that your commitment be strong, and that you remain open to learning and communicating with the STAR FFA staff. As a team, we can work together to build positive, life-impacting relationships and we can work through challenging situations. In these ways, we will make a powerful difference in children’s lives.
